I soon realized that I am not superman and should run smart. After all if I do a great deal of damage to my feet it's not just the running that will suffer. So, I did some research ( you have to love the Internet) and found that I am experiencing Inflammation of the extensor tendons. All the symptoms and possible causes matched my experience.
So because I really want to keep running I have a plan of action:
- Stretch properly before and after the run
- Don't tie shoes tight
- Get appropriate foot padding
- Stretch and apply ice after the run
- Chose a more flat route to run because hills are what started the pain.
